01 What information should I send for an oil and gas valve quotation?

Send the valve duty and type, nominal size, pressure class, end connection, medium, operating pressure and temperature, operation method, quantity and required document scope. If available, include the valve datasheet, MTO, P&ID or project specification. Complete input makes it possible to compare technical quotations on the same basis rather than comparing only a valve description and price.

02 Can zpvevlave review an existing valve datasheet, MTO or valve schedule?

Yes. Send the available datasheet, MTO, valve schedule or technical specification. zpvevlave can review the stated valve type, pressure class, materials, end connections, actuation and documentation requirements, then identify missing parameters, conflicting requirements or points that need technical confirmation before the configuration and quotation are prepared.

03 How is the applicable valve standard confirmed for my duty?

The applicable standard should follow the valve duty and the project specification, not a generic “oil and gas valve” description. Pipeline isolation, station service and refinery or process duties can have different design and documentation requirements. Share the governing specification and line duty so the proposed valve basis can be confirmed clearly in the technical quotation.

04 What must be defined for sour-service valve requirements?

Do not rely only on the phrase “NACE compliant.” Provide the H₂S and CO₂ conditions, water phase, pH, chlorides, pressure, temperature, applicable sour-service standard and the project scope for exposed components. These details define the material and documentation review required for the confirmed valve configuration.

05 When is a full-bore valve required instead of a reduced-bore valve?

A full-bore valve is normally required where the line must be pigged or where low pressure drop and an unrestricted flow path are project requirements. A reduced-bore design may be suitable for clean process isolation where pigging is not required and the allowable pressure loss has been confirmed. Bore type should be decided before quotation, not substituted after selection.

06 What should be confirmed for manual, electric or pneumatic operation?

Confirm the required operation method, available power or instrument-air supply, normal position, fail position, emergency-shutdown or control-signal requirement, cycle frequency and any installation constraints. The actuator and valve must be confirmed as one package so that operating torque, interfaces and project requirements are reviewed together.

07 Which inspection records and project documents should be agreed before ordering?

Agree the document and inspection scope during technical review, before the purchase order is released. Depending on the confirmed project requirements, the package may include datasheets, drawings, material information, inspection plans and pressure-test records. Any witness, hold-point or third-party documentation requirement should also be identified at this stage.

08 Can a valve configuration be changed after technical review?

Yes, but changes to materials, end connections, actuation, test requirements or document scope need a renewed configuration review. These changes can affect the valve design, manufacturing requirements and quotation basis. Send the revised datasheet, drawing or marked requirement as early as possible so the technical and commercial scope can be reconfirmed.
